Danger of a single story
What does it mean to have a 'single story' about a place or community?
A single story about the community would mean how one person grew thinking this certain way and then finish off thinking the other way it could be a place, person or culture.
Describe a single story you have heard told about your community. What is missing from that story? How could people learn more about that community?
When people think of Texas they think of cowboys, cows and horses but although they never actually been here to experience what were like or what we like to do. Whats missing is they never asked anybody on their opinion on what they themselves the people that are actually living their. To be able to make people learn about culture all over the world is to get speaker to talk to everybody so they can acknowledge that not everyone is what you picture in you're mind.
Describe a single story you have heard about another community. How did you learn that story? How could you find out more about that community? Whenever i think of Africans i think of no shirt sunburned really skinny and eat once a day but as i learned more about Africans and their culture i found out i was wrong. I can find out more if teachers speakers or parents start teaching us more and more information on cultures and people.
How could a game let players experience many stories about a place or community?
Maybe creating a game with important facts about different community's and sharing good ideas that can be used to prevent this.
